PbP wrong on failed steal of 3rd
Just looked at a game log (and funny enough, it's like the first log I've inspected ever) and saw an error - a player stole 2nd base, but it must not have been satisfying, because he tried to steal it again on the next batter! I think the play-by-play is wrong though, and he gets caught stealing 3rd.
It's P.Parkes below. Ignore the links I just was too lazy to de-linkify it. ![]() Code:
<table class="lpo" style="margin-bottom: 12px;" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="slgb" valign="top" width="160">Batting: RHB P. Parkes</td><td class="slg">0-0: Ball 1-0: Foul Ball 1-1: Ball 2-1: SINGLE (Groundball, 6MD)</td></tr> <tr><td class="slb" valign="top" width="160">Batting: RHB D. Faucher</td><td class="sl">0-0: Called Strike 0-1: Called Strike P. Parkes steals 2nd base 0-2: Strikes out swinging</td></tr> <tr><td class="slgb" valign="top" width="160">Batting: RHB J. McDonald</td><td class="slg">0-0: Called Strike P. Parkes is caught stealing 2nd base 0-1: Called Strike 0-2: DOUBLE (Groundball, 5L)</td></tr> <tr><td class="slb" valign="top" width="160">Batting: LHB J. Bergman</td><td class="sl">0-0: Ball 1-0: Called Strike 1-1: Called Strike 1-2: Ball 1-2: Wild Pitch! J. McDonald to third 2-2: Foul Ball 2-2: Foul Ball 2-2: SINGLE (Groundball, 34D) J. McDonald scores</td></tr> <tr><td class="slgb" valign="top" width="160">Batting: SHB R. Ritchie</td><td class="slg">0-0: Foul Ball 0-1: Swinging Strike 0-2: Ball 1-2: Foul Ball 1-2: Ball 2-2: Ball J. Bergman steals 2nd base 3-2: Ground out 1-3 (Groundball, 13)</td></tr></tbody></table> |

Just curious...how does it appear in the log if a runner gets picked off second base?
In real life the runner is charged with a caught stealing, right? |
