Frequent crashes with file corruption

I love the game. But, I’m having a lot of problems with crashes to the desktop, both before and after the patch.

The worst part is that league files have been getting corrupted by the crash (most obvious sign is that the players lose their entire names, or maybe only their first or last names). So each crash wipes out a league.

My first question is backups. Will backing up the .lg file be sufficient, or must the entire data file be backed up to be able to restore after something like this?

As for the crashes, they have happened mostly in auto-play, but in other situations too (once was asking manager for depth charts, which I think was in the patched list). I was multitasking in many of these situations. I tried shutting down my virus/spyware protection while having OOTP open since it sometimes interrupts with updates. Could it be a memory issue? What you recommend looking at?

I'm running Windows XP.

thank you.

Incidentally, when backing up, it's really safest to back up the entire directory ending with .lg. So, if your game is called MyGame, there will be a folder here:

C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games\MyGame.lg.

You should back up that entire folder.

Also, can you give any more detail about the crashes you are experiencing? What kind of league have you created? When does it typically crash?

Thanks...

My understanding is that this fix has been verified, so closing this out.

Thanks!
