A job! A job! My kingdom (if I had one that is) for a job!

I started up a league, created myself, all that fun stuff.... and have simmed through a full season (from 1/1 to 2/1) and still have no job... the job list has shown no teams offering me a job for over a year... my family is hungry and we're living off welfare! I'll give them my food stamps for a short seasons a ball management job!

Shouldn't there ALWAYS be at least one offer from at least a Rookie ball (or whatevers lowest in your league) club?

I'd walk into a team's offices and go postal if I could... but I can't afford stamps!

Been there, done that. Once you get in that far, the jobs become scarce. Keep watching or use your quickstart save to get a job from day 1.

The best time to look is the first day after the playoffs

Hah... yeah. I simmed a week when I first started and then remembered "Oh... I need a job"... I've never seen an offer yet. That'll teach me to take a week off and take my kids fishin...

What until you go on vacation for 2 weeks when you are 10 games under .500.

I've been noticing the opposite issue. In the league I'm in, (I'm a R league manager), almost all the jobs have been open the whole season. The AI does not seem to be hiring anyone.

If you're in commissioner mode you can have yourself hired anywhere. When I go to my commisssioner manager I have job opportunities with every team at every level. When I go to my manager manager... well... I already went through that.

I wouldn't think you'd have any opportunities listed if you already have a job... but since I've never had one I wouldn't really know.

Similarly, I notice that the AI does not seem to sign anyone. I repeatedly have to fill teams with fictional players because they are never in any rush to sign people (except during the offseason free agent run).

Woot! I finally have a job... Double A manager and Single A manager for the same team opened up. And I guess I was wrong... I finally have a job, and can still see the Single A opening.

Hmm, I think I am acting as commish also. That would explain it. Should (not is) that be enough to explain it though (realistically speaking)? I can see how if you were some sort of commish you'd be able to fire someone and hire something else, but IMO, in the mean time, AI GM's should be doing the hiring.

If you're a commssioner it'll give you the option of taking over any team, and the way it does that (besides the option drop down I guess at the top right) is show you in your manager drop down, available jobs, that every team is offering the job to you. If you started another manager (I have a commissioner manager and a manager manager) which can be done easily enough, you'd probably see very few job listings if any (since you can't appoint yourself, but have to hired).

In one league I was playing with I went to the job offer section, and took over Baltimore's GM job. I had just looked at their team personnel and it had a GM listed. I got no news message that Baltimore's GM had been fired, but got one that I had taken over the reigns.

In COmmissioner mode, every job is always open to you. Whenever, wherever. The nice feature is, when NOT running as Commish, you only see the jobs the AI feels you are qualified for. So, just because a major league GM job opens up, the team may not offer it to you, so you won't see it in your available jobs.

That said, the best time to find a job is the day immediately follwing the playoffs.

That brings me to another problem, since I still consider that 'either get a job on 1/1 as soon as you start or sit until the end of the first years playoffs' a problem (not a big one), my manager shows 3 years experience when I look at personnel... having never had a job that should still say 0 even though he's existed for 3 seasons.

Hi guys, sorry to jump into this party late.

It seems like you've worked through all of the issues here successfully, except perhaps with the very last bit about manager experience. I just tested that in my Patch 2 version of the game, and that doesn't seem to be an issue any more.

Are there any other questions out there? I'm going to move this over to Closed/Claimed Fixed for now.

Happy to re-discuss at any time!

Steve
