Calendar issues

Over in this thread, the problem I'm having is mentioned. (Yes, I am running the 1.0.1 patch.)

When I load my game, I get the following errors:

CALENDAR_DATE::set - invalid year
CALENDAR_DATE::set - invalid hour

According to that other thread, the issue was solved, but if it was solved with the patch, it wasn't solved in my patch.

I know that according to the in-game calendar, the current date was June 10, 2006 (or June 11; not sure if I moved to the next day).

Any ideas? Thanks again in advance...

ETA: Forgot about this message, which appears after the other two:

The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version.

Trouble is, I've been using that database for a couple of weeks with no problems...

Well, dang! I was hoping the crack staff would have a vague solution to impart, particularly since the previous thread stated the issue was solved.

Could just be that it was nice enough outside* that no one in the know has checked this thread, though..

By the way, this is a database that was working before the patch - and after it, too, come to think of it. Also, today I tried out other skins to see if there would be any change (there wasn't). There must be a simple fix, right?

Again, any ideas would be helpful. If this has already been covered, I couldn't find it in a search on "calendar."

I must say, I'm really surprised this hasn't received any response at all.

So. I infer I'm the only one with this problem, even though it was mentioned in another thread as having been resolved, although no solution was mentioned.

What were you doing before exiting the game before the last time you exited the game before your problem?

Those who can help always require as much information as possible. Your initial inquiry was tantamount to: "My game crashed, how can I fix it?"

Well, I would certainly disagree with that, considering I provided the error messages, the fact that I had patched, and the fact that I had been using the patched system for a little while (that is, it wasn't the first time out).

But no, nothing unusual at all. One evening I played and exited normally. The next day, when I loaded the game, I received those error messages (the program itself loads, just not the league I created).

Can you play a different game? That way any issue could be isolated from the program to the save game in particular.

I can load in a different game (the default league), but I didn't check to see if I can play it. I'll do that when I get home today.

It does seem to be limited to my own league, though.

Excellent. Sim a fictional season you don't terribly care about, and see if this league can advance past 6/10.

The league may be hosed.

I simmed the MAL all the way through the season (through the championship game), with no problems.

That isolates the problem, all right, but I don't know if I can fix it.

After simming that league, I decided to try to load my own league again. Before, it made it to around 14% loaded before giving me those calendar errors. This time, it made it all the way to the end before giving me the same errors.

Returning to the MAL, I tried to Continue to the next day (I'm now in the offseason), and I got this message: "League_Standings_Page::Create_page - invalid league id"

It's back to normal - that is, I'm getting the calendar errors with my league. I was incorrect, though; I didn't sim the default league but a second one I'd begun but hadn't done anything with.

So since I can sim the other league, I assume that means my own league is screwed, corrupt somehow. Not sure how that happened, unfortunately. I wonder, though.... the problem appears to have to do with a setting - i.e., the calendar date and such are incorrectly set - so perhaps there's a way to modify that setting appropriately. I don't know.

You know what would rock, for future versions? A Repair Database function.

I still have no idea what caused this problem or if there's any way to solve it. I suspect there's a db error, and if that's the case....

I think if I really can't solve this, I'll just do individual games for the balance of my season. I've had worse problems, I suppose.

Dan,

Sorry about your league, it sounds like it might be gone.

May I suggest that for your next league you make sure you make regular backups. I personally use Minnelli's OOTPSAVE utility. I use his utility in conjuction with Windows Task Scheduler to make sure I get a backup of my league every night. Just thought I would share.

Thanks, fantom - I'll do that next time.

I think I assumed the autosave that occurs when I exit the game was sufficient, but I s'pose not.

Well, if it's a dead league, no matter. I'm not giving up playing it! Got to make it to next year's 20th season.

Here's what I did. Pure genius, I'm sure!

The game had conked out after 59 games. So I created a new league, imported my OOTP6 league, and set the new league for 103 games. Easy peasy. I have all the stats I need from the old league on a spreadsheet, so that's not lost. Not the best situation, but tenable.
