Free Agents? What Am I Doing Wrong?

So, hope against hope, we decided to try starting our online league. File distributed, exports done, free agent offers made. No one responds. I simmed from 1/1 through May, and no free agent even sent a message.

(1) Is there a page, like there was in 6.5, that lists everyone's free agent offers? Or even a page that lists an individual team's offers? I assume there are offers in the game (I made some of them), but I really have no idea because I can't find them listed anywhere.

(2) Assuming there are offers, why is no one responding? Is this a known bug? I found a few messages where people have complained that guys won't sign during the offseason, but some were using imported leagues, and others are saying that guys will sign during the offseason but won't sign during the regular season. So I have no idea.

Yes, I'm patched. Yes, I've gotten solo leagues to work and free agents to sign. So I'm stumped.

Edit to add - if anyone is feeling particularly charitable, you can download a copy of the league here - http://rlpa.org/index.php?option=com...d=67&Itemid=41 (it's the one called JPL) - and look it over to see if I screwed the pooch in setting it up. I followed the instructions in the game guide as best I could.

Now someone in the league is saying that if he sims forward, the FAs will respond to his offers. So it sounds like maybe the FA offers aren't exporting, and I actually didn't import anything.

Is there a separate FA export in 2006 like there was in 6.5?

Players don't necessarily respond on the same day they are offered contracts in the new version. They usually mull it over for a few days before getting back to you.

Seriously, no one knows what might be wrong here? Is there anyone out there running an online league now who has successfully imported free agent offers from other owners? If so, how did you do it?

I understand that 99.99% of this forum is taken up with people complaining about the game, but this is supposed to be troubleshooting as well. So someone out there at SI, troubleshoot. This is a fairly straightforward question. (Even if the answer is just "this is a bug that isn't going to be fixed until [fill in the date]", so I know to stop beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out).

Have ALL owners in this league simmed? Seems to me that if you get ahead of everyone else, you may be creating your own problem.

Nobody simmed but me. I distributed a file to everyone on the same date (1/1/2006). They all exported from that file, and I imported to a file (still dated 1/1/06). Then I tried simming forward to get player responses to free agent offers, but the players never responded (I simmed day by day until May, so don't tell me I didn't go far enough).

I'm sorry for the awfully slow response to this thread.

Obviously, some time has passed since you posted this issue, and the 1.0.2 patch has since been released as well. Are you still seeing this issue? I have not been able to reproduce it so far.

Of course, you're probably running into our other online league issues right now, so we may not be able to accomplish much until the next patch is released, hopefully this Friday.

We've abandoned even trying our league at this point, given all the other online issues that abound. People were just getting too upset that every time we figured one thing out, another problem would pop up. Once the 1.0.2 patch is done, we'll give it another try and I'll let you know how it goes.

In the meantime, how about an answer to my other question posted here about the problems with defensive stats? (I know, pushy, but eventually I'll probably die or get married or something and won't be able to keep bumping it every day in hopes of someone in the know stumbling across it and giving me an answer.)

OK, if it's alright with you, I'm going to move this over to closed issues for now, and we can reassess after the next patch comes out.

Meanwhile, I'll get to your other thread eventually! Working backwards right now, trying to get to the really old stuff...
