Player Evaluation with Contracts + Notifications
I've been playing OOTP since version 3 and, to me, the once disappointing OOTP2006 is much improved with the new 1.02 patch. However, I still see two glaring problems (other than the overall AI):
1) Player Contracts and Stat recognition: Honestly, I like the idea of being able to set how much money different types of hitters would make, but it is executed very poorly. The main problem, I believe, is that the AI does not seem to take statistics into account at all. For instance, I had a second baseman who had nearly perfect contact ratings and just had massive potential - though he completely lacked power or any defensive skills. Well, after racking up a mere 7 career home runs and a .291 batting average, the guy became a free agent. He demanded $26,000,000 a year!!! I realize this is because the AI sees that he is a second baseman and has off-the-charts contact skills - but it is a serious problem that the AI cannot evaluate his actual mediocre performance. To me this needs to be fixed ASAP. But how? Well, I do miss the "Player Evaluation AI Setup" from 6.5 where you could distribute how the AI measures talent. Personally, I believe that statistics of a player's actual performance should have overwhelming influence on the AI, because I value realism - but perhaps that's not everyone's taste...But I definitely do suggest that something to the extent of the "Player Evaluation AI Setup" be brought back to OOTP as soon as possible. I think this is the root of OOTP2006's problems. 2) DL Notifications: Really...I'm surprised this hasn't been added back in yet. Please add back the option to receive emails when a player is ready to be activated from the disabled list. I know this is missed by lots of people. Last edited by ms2002; 07-12-2006 at 03:20 PM. |

ms, thanks for the feedback.
The DL notifications are back in as of the next patch. Regarding your first suggestion, this has already been noted and is being reviewed for possible future inclusion. Thanks very much! Steve |
