Trade Offer Expired on same day it was proposed

Just had an odd thing happen. Have a fictional league that I started from scratch. It's 12/16/2005 in the league which orignally started in 1998 and simmed for a few years. I got an e-mail saying there was a trade proposal from Seattle, but when I opened up the e-mail it said that the trade had expired.

Checking on the transactions from Seattle, they did make a trade that day with another team. I suppose it's possible they were trying to trade the same player to me that got traded that day?

This is just an odd occurance I thought I'd report.

I'm running 1.0.3 on a PC.

Two days later, it happened again. Different team this time. Not game breaking in any way, just really annoying. Who knows, it might have been a decent offer.

I think I have seen this reported here before and it was explained as you saw in the first post - the team completed a deal with another team and thus the offers shows up as expired on the same day the trade was offered.

So let me see if the is correct.

A team wants to trade a player with my team, I open the e-mail and the trade has expired because they made the trade with a different team. Does not make sense. I answered the e-mail as soon as I got it and that should at least give me a chance to respond to the offer and if they decide to trade with another team then I should get a notice that the other teams offer was better. Be nice to then counter offer and see if I can offer sometihing better and change the mind of that owner.

Also, I don't believe there is a "time" in the game. So, it would be impossible for the AI to complete a trade after offering a trade. You would have to advance at least one day for that to happen.

Am I right?

I'm not so sure about that...the AI seems to make all its decisions for the day before the human manager(s) get to make theirs, e.g. you'll sometimes see players released by one AI team and immediately signed by another without the human player getting a crack at the guy. I think that AI trade negotiations (at least the initial email and the response to it) are similarly instantaneous.

hmm, i didn't know this was the case, and I've never noticed it. It would be nice to get clarification.

I get the feeling this is correct but it would be nice if Markus would chime in.

I'm sorry it's taken so long for any of us to get here.

I'm not quite sure about the time aspect of it, but my understanding is that what you have mentioned is the case - that a trade for the player was completed just before, thus invalidating the trade.

Remember, too, that the AI may have offered that player to another team in a trade several days ago, and just heard back.

At any rate, please let me know if you're seeing this a lot, or whether you'd like me to continue to research it.

Thanks,

Steve

We usually close threads if they've gone without a response for seven days, as is the case with this one, as it can be assumed that the problem has been resolved.

If you'd like me to re-open the thread, feel free to PM me with a link to it. Thanks!
