Having Problems Starting League

I really didn't think this belonged here because it's probably something I'm doing wrong rather than a bug, but I just read the topic description, and I see this section isn't just for bugs, so I'm cross-posting here:

With the (third) demise of my Federal League universe, I decided to see if changing the name (to Continental League) changed my luck. If it changed, it was for the worse.

First, I wanted to use a combination of arod/garlon's random database and fictional players. The random db starts in 1901, so that's when I set my game. I tried to set the game to use historical players, but got a message that I would have to wait until after the game started to do that. Seemed odd, but okay.

I set up the universe and saved it as a template (thank goodness). Started the game, and it jumped right over January first and started the draft of fantasy players on the second. Nothing about adding in the historical players, and they weren't added. I had things I wanted to do on the first, also (fix financials, rename teams, maybe try to hire personnel, import the historical db).

So, here I am in the draft. Around round thirty the computer begins to slow down. Not surprising — it does that after running this game for awhile. Around round forty it grinds down to dirt slow. Again, annoying, but not surprising. On round forty-four I had my first ever CTD. Never had one in 1.01 or 1.02.

I tried restarting the game, and wasn't given the option of continuing the game I was in, even though it was set to autosave each day, so it should've defaulted back to January first, when it should've autosaved. Apparantly it didn't autosave. If I hadn't saved the template I would've lost another twelve hours of work, on top of the hundreds I've thrown away on the first three iterations of this league.

So, my questions are: What happened? How do you set up a combined historical/fantasy universe? How (and when) do you import the historical data base? And, when it asks me (which I assume it will) what my path is, what do I tell it? (Keep in mind that I have a Mac.)

I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Curtis,

I have never done a mix of a fantasy/historical league so I am not sure where you went wrong. Did you have any luck getting this figured out? If so, please let me know. If there is anyone else out there that has done this, your help would be greatly appreciated.

No, I'm not having any luck. I'm trying to work through this in a pm with arod23 and in a thread in the Newbies Forum with Molarmite, but what they're telling me I should be looking for isn't appearing/happening in my game, so it's like we're speaking different languages. I don't know if it's because I have a Mac, or because I don't understand computer stuff.
