Serial Number Not Working on Mac
So I try and enter my serial number on the main screen by pressing the activate button and then I cut an paste in my serial number. I then get a fail message and asks me to re enter it?
I am on a mac since I am sure that matters.

Are you sure you are entering the 35 digit serial #
Can you make sure you copy and paste it exactly. What is the exact error please. |

I have copied an pasted it a few different times and even did it by hand once and no go.
It is 35 digits if you include the dash so I assume this is correct. Here is the message:

Are you connected to the internet when this is happening?

Yes...connect to the internet. But this should not matter since the game is not going out to look and check. It simply puts up the message immediately.
This is a little annoying since it keeps popping up that this is a demo and I need to buy the game.

It does matter, when you enter the serial number the game calls a function in the eSellerate system which requires an internet connection. There's a setting, where we can force it to prompt for a connection but that's turned off, since we assume that since the game is download only, most people will be connected to the internet.
There are a few ways this can fail: 1) no serial number 2) wrong length 3) not a valid key (e.g. a typo) 4) failure to write the key to disk 5) no engine found 6) internal failure @ eSellerate networks 7) unknown activation id Everything except 4 and 6 are impossible. 6 is unlikely, so I have 1 question....are you a member of the administrator user group on this machine? |

Ok. I'm going to work just now on the assumption that #4 is the issue. Educated guess...
Is there a folder in the user's library/preferences directory, for OOTP 2007? Is there anything in it? Or is there one in the system's library/preferences folder? (in the mean time, I've changed the error to give mre information so there will be an updated build soon, but hopefully you are up and running before then). |

Ok...So I have gotten it to activate, but this is clearly not the way I should have to do it. What I did:
I turned off my airport (macbook pro that is wireless) Entered my serial number Took me to a screen that said I was not connected to the internet would I like to activate (then it listed three options.) I choose the with a web browser on this machine. Gave me a link to e-seller Turned back on my airport Clicked the link Took me to page with my installation id already filled in. Submited the id. Gave me a long activation number. Pasted this in the gave Told me the game was activated Then clicked the activate button again on the bottom left (since it was till there.) Entered Serial Number again. This time....... SUCCESSS ![]() I assume this is not is what is suppose to happen, so I think you have some issue with the mac activation.

Just to help you trouble shoot. I do have a preferences file in my user library for SI. And it has a OOTP2007 folder in there.

The game has been tested for a while on Macs, so I'm not 100% sure what this issue is. I've just tried it again on my own Mac and it works fine here. I am assuming that it's a problem with cause #4 since I can't really see it being anything else.
Good to know you are up and running. Hopefully the updated build will provide others with more information, if they run into this issue. |

Well, good news that you were able to activate it! That's the most important part!
