Moving teams to a new league from an old one

I basically merged two existing leagues into a new league that hadn't previously existed.

I created a schedule once I did that.

I simulated and the game didn't keep up with the new league. It just kept the teams with their old records from their previous league and tried to play games out of step with the first date of the new season start date.

So the old season never ended from their old league and thus, I've destroyed my entire universe. It's ok, I can start a new one. But...what the heck?

This was a problem in OOTP 2006 too, the game didn't know when to end the season and there isn't an option to "reset league" or "reset season" and so, you can't get the game to reset the clock for a new team or whatever.

While this is frustrating and I believe that the game needs to be tightened up in areas that let the user make mistakes, I believe the manual gives info on the correct time to make changes to the structure of your league in order to avoid these problems. Please post your league file so Markus can see the damage and hopefully he can shore up the parts that allow this to occur.

Any time you want to make schedule changes for a league, only do that during the off-season or pre-season periods. If the change involves different leagues, both must be in either the off-season or pre-season period.

Yes, there should be a little more prompting to the player to let them know they're about to make a change in a league at an inadvisable time.

After a week of no replies from the original poster, we generally assume that the problem is no longer present and close the threads. If this isn't the case and you'd like me to re-open the thread, feel free to PM me with a link to the thread.

Thanks!
