Inaugural Draft Problem
I just set up a new league...20 teams, 2 leagues, standard settings, etc. I got through my 125 round inaugural draft and was ready to sim ahead to spring training, only to find out that when I try simming ahead, it says:
"The following event has not been finished yet: Inaugural Draft" I go to see what this new "draft" is (even though I just finished the inaugural draft) and see that the draft type no longer says "Inaugural Draft" but "First Year Player Draft." When I click continue draft it automatically pops up with the whole illegal operation/ootp2007.exe has to shut down. I tried disabling the amateur player draft in the league setup to see if I could avoid this phantom "first-year player draft," but it still comes up when I try to sim ahead. On the little baseball icon (the auto-play options) at the top of the screen, it says "01-03-2007: NBL Inaugural Draft" TWICE, one right below the other. When I first set up my league my amateur draft was supposed to be held in June of 2007, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I tried setting up another league, but it does the SAME thing---it won't let me sim to spring training because it says I need to finish the inaugural draft first, even though I just did. And the "inaugural draft" screen says "first-year player draft" as its draft type. Am I just doing something wrong? Hope this wasn't too confusing. |

Most importantly, we'd like to see if we could replicate this. Do you think you could start another league, following the exact steps you did before(noting each step for us) and then see if you get the same issue to arise? If so, please post back with the exact steps and we can get this logged and fixed.
Thank you! ![]()

this happened to me as well. but i went back and simmed the entire first week of january at once instead of simming each day individually, and it cleared up. not saying it will work for you, but that did it for me.

This is happening for me as well. I have tried disabling the first year draft, didn't work, tried simmig through the first week etc. Nothing, always crashes.
I did the inagural draft on Jan. 2nd, and it tries to schedule it again on Jan 3rd. |

ah, i now remember what i did to get this to work. i use the commish mode for a fictional league, and am a GM for one of the teams within the league.
what i did was go back and resign from being GM of the team the day AFTER the inagural draft completed, and then set ALL the teams to be run/managed by the computer. then i simmed the first week in january just to get past any other quirks that might have been lingering past jan 3rd. then i put it BACK into commish mode and chose to be gm of the team again. i'm currently in the 3rd season for this sim and haven't noticed any other quirks since. hope this helps.

Not sure exactly what the problem is, but it must have to do with being commissioner and being a GM of team at the same time. |

This is a repeatable CTD, as I have found. It can brobtained by creating a league and specifying that it not have an inaugural draft. When you try to advance to 1/02/XX, the game crashes.

nah, at no time did i specify to not have an inaugural draft. this particular issue appears to happen if you're the human manager of a team within a league (fictional?) filled with nothing but other computer managers. all other factors seem to not be relavant (minor leagues, feeder leagues, inaugural draft on/off, etc). <shrugs>

So to be more specific for bug hunting: if you create a league and put yourself in as commish and general manager and not set an inaugural draft, you can advance the game to 1/2/XX. You are then notified that the "inaugural draft" isn't finished (this is why I thought my issue fit in with the others), and when you try to click on "continue draft" in that case -- although you are told there aren't any rounds remaining and no draft order is shown on the screen -- then the games goes CTD.
