3241 - Crash when attempting to trade with one particular team...

sorry for this drive-by tech support post, because i'm sure i won't have all the information you are going to need to troubleshoot it. but last night every time i attempted a trade with just one particular team, the game crashed. it would crash as soon as the "trade" button was clicked after shopping a player around, and it would also crash if i went to the Trade Player screen and manually selected this team from the drop-down menu -- it would crash as soon as this team was chosen from the drop-menu. again, this would only happen when a trade was attempted with one particular team...extremely odd.

i have no idea if i've ever been able to trade with this team before, and i have no idea if i'll be able to trade with them after the season is over. but i was not able to trade with this team the entire month of july for the current season. i didn't attempt to make a trade with ALL of the other 34 teams, but the other teams i did attempt a trade with worked fine as expected.

it's a fictional 36 team league with 3 levels of minors and 2 feeder leagues, and no historical settings are turned on. financials are on and revenue sharing is enabled. my team is the only human controlled team, and i'm the commish of the league. coaches and scouts are turned off. no teams have been moved, added, or deleted since the inaugural draft. actually, none of the major settings have been changed since the inaugural draft either. facegen, ghost players, personalities, draft pick trading, and morale are all enabled.

has this happened to anyone else? please let me know if you need more information, or if you need me to send you guys some files.

The league files would be nice.

Also, which team was it you were trying to trade with that was causing this? Have you gone to that team's page and looked it over, like roster, transactions, and such. Seen if you've gotten a crash doing that? There might be a problem with that team.

i'll take a look at that particular team more closely tonight. i went ahead and ran that season thru november without any more trade attempts with that team. i'll attempt to trade a few more times with 'em, and let you know whether it continues to crash. i'll also upload those files tomorrow morning if the crashes continue.

I too have experienced the exact same thing. In my case, the team was the Yankees. After about six times of the game crashing, I gave up and just started a new league. So far...fingers crossed...I haven't had the problem again.

I deleted the league files already or I'd send them in.

Hopefully this can get fixed.

It just happpened again on the new file. This time the team is the White Sox. FYI.

Just had a CTD doing a trade as well. Happened after about a week of negotiations, and CTD occurred right after hitting the confirm button.

Trade was a 3 for 1 deal + cash.

did some testing last night, and the issue in my league is still going on. so i rolled back to the initial quickstart i had saved, which pretty much includes just the league structure and rules and so forth, with all the players still in the draft pool awaiting the inagural draft. and the game crashes every time i attempt to trade wth any of these 4 teams:

Bridgeport, McDermitt, Misawaka, Muskogee

to reproduce this crash, here is what i'm doing (remember none of these teams have ANY players yet): going to the managerial home page, initiating a trade, choosing my league from the dropdown menu in the top right of the trade screen, choosing any of the 4 teams listed above. a crash ensues immediately. the team lineups (if there actually were any) are never displayed on the right side of the screen. a crash does not occur when a trade is attempted for ANY of the other teams within the league.

give me a little while and i'll upload the league files from this initial quickstart.

Just a heads up, I remember reading a post the other day saying that they read the tech posts from the bottom post to the top, so everytime you bump it up you are actually making it harder on yourself, having to wait a longer time. I have encountered the same problem as well, but am just informing you on how you are making the process longer on yourself.

I tried to download your league, but it said the file was corrupt. I tried it 3 times so I think it my have been a corrupt upload, so do you think you could re-upload it?

I also went ahead and put in a TT for this. TT#3241, but I know Markus is going to need a working league file in order to come up with a fix if he can find the problem. The more the better.

it appears that changing the Team Name in the Names & Affiliations screen within the Game Setup makes the game happy. sometimes changing the case (going from lowercase to uppercase) of one of the letters of the Team Name will do it too, but not always. for instance, a crash still happens if the case of the first 3 letters of the Team Name is changed. but, adding or deleting a letter of the Team Name appears to work every time. 4 out of 36 teams have this problem, greater than 10% of the league.
