Error Totals in 1901 League
I started a historical league in 1901, using 1901 as my "Import Settings" for league totals, etc.
I see a Fielding Errors "modifier" of 2.297 at the bottom of the screen. I assume this is what is causing my teams to average over 2 errors per game in this league. Was that typical for games of that era? Or do I have some kinda error here?

Yes, Teams averaged well over 2 errors a game in 1901. In fact, the Tigers led the majors with 410 errors in 136 games.

Historical League FLD% -
1901: .942 1902: .949 1903: .949 1904: .954 In 2006 the league FLD% was .983. In 2006 per 1000 chances there were 17 errors. In 1902 per 1000 chances there were 51 errors. So yes, Errors were much more frequent in the DeadBall Era than they are today. In the era_stats.txt file there is a column called FLD% with the yearly historical FLD%. Each season OOTP calculates an Errors modifier based on the fielding results of the previous season so that it can hit the target FLD% for the current season. You will usually end up with +/- .001 of the actual historical league fielding percentage each season. |

Something I did not know. Thanks much.
Now I am not so upset that Honus Wagner just booted one in one of my games!
