Issue with era_settings and no recognition
Hey,
In order to get a better simulated experience, I changed the era_settings text file (through Excel) in the My Documents Sports Interactive folder. I had imported the text file into Excel and edited it that way, then just inserted the commas in place in the text file. When I start up a historical game in 1901, it recognizes the 1901 League Totals but when the 1902 season arrives, nothing changes. Everything from the modifiers to the Totals to the PCMs stay the same as the 1901 season. This still occurs even with the 1903 season. I didn't change anything but the AB, H, 2B, 3B, HR, BB, and K in the era_settings text (I changed 1870 - 2006). Any ideas on what could be wrong or how to fix it? |

Also wanted to add that I've "re" installed OOTP 2007 a couple times with the original era_settings text file however the historical leagues still aren't changing over.

When are you selecting the year to use?
If you select the year-to-be-used after pressing Start Game, the game will use those settings forever. This is to allow for the user who wants to, say, always play with 1985 settings. If you select the year during the league creation process, make sure you have all the appropriate check boxes checked ... they are spread out over multiple tabs ...

When I create my historical league, I do the following.
Page 1 of the creation wizard, I change the path to database to C:\STATS and for select year, I choose 1901. I alter the adjust hitter/pitcher options to 280/80 and 15/5 and go to page 2. Page 4 I leave everything checked off. Page 6 I select commissioner mode and type in the enter game name. Beneath that, I have 1901 where it says "Enter Starting Year." I then click start game. After that, I go to the advanced mode and under Rules "Import Historical Rookies" is checked off with path to database set at C:\STATS 2. "Enable Financials" is checked off. Under Options the following are all checked off, "Automatically expand league", "Automatically adjust league strategy", "import adjusted financial settings", "Automatically adjust league totals modifiers after each season..." and that's it. Should I be leaving the page 1 "select year" blank instead? |

Continuing to update this (mostly for myself and if anybody has any ideas/tips).
As far as I can tell, here's what happens year to year in regards to the League Strategy page. The only thing that doesn't change is the League Totals on the left. I've also included a couple screens to help out any whom are reading this thread. This is the 1902 Season (4/17): 1902 Season This is the 1903 Season (4/15): 1903 Season Last edited by DawnBTVS; 04-03-2007 at 02:27 PM. |

Sorry about the slow response. Yesterday was a Nick Day, and I didn't get onto the computer, except to sim while I was away.
From your screenshots ... they seem to be conflicting with your original post. Your screenshots seem normal. The left side of the League Totals column will never change. They are the raw numbers that are multiplied by the right side to get the actual numbers used by the game. Hope I'm making sense.
