Game Automatically Resets Draft Rules

I'm running a universe in which I created a fictional league but am stocking it with players from another league. So, I do not want the game to create fictional players for this league. In order to keep this from occurring, the only way I see possible is to set the draft to 1 round and the number of players to be created to zero in the league rules. This works well and my league runs just as I intend it to.

The problem is that periodically, the game resets these rules without me knowing it and I end up polluting my universe with fictional players. I think, but am not positive, that this is triggered when I change other, unrelated league rules. The game changes the players created from zero to 1, a draft is held in which these players are brought into the game, and usually I don't realize it until it's too late. I've caught it a few times and been able to delete/retire the players before they get into games, but this past time I didn't catch it for a few years and it ruined my universe. I basically have to check the draft log every year to make sure the game hasn't created any players, making a multi-year sim impossible.

If there is another way to completely disable the draft so that I have a league with no new players being created, please let me know. Otherwise, I would appreciate someone looking into this. I'm not sure if it changes the rules in other situations, or if it's just because I have that number set to zero and it's trying to "save my universe" by forcing the creation of players it thinks I need to support my league. I just need the game to stop playing Big Brother...I know what I'm doing!

Apparently I'm the only one who has attempted playing a game this way, so this isn't a big issue for anyone else, but it's a pain in the butt for me. Basically, any time I change a league rule or re-start the game after saving and exiting (at least those are two situations I have positively identified as problem areas), the game automatically changes the "generate players for X rounds" from my setting of 0 to 1, resulting in the creation/drafting of fictional players unless I'm on top of it and delete them before they get into the game. I don't see any reason why this should be happening, and it is preventing me from running a multi-year sim, since I'm not entirely sure when the game is going to impose its own rules on me. As a result, I'm having to check this rule 2-3 times a year during my sim to make sure it hasn't been changed. Not fun.
