Why are all player updates negative?

All I see is reports of players throughout my system going downhill. I have a top notch head scout, and in 5 seasons he hasn't steered me wrong very often. It would be nice if once in a while I could get a report on someone who is improving. And none of the players that have been reported on this far are over 22 years old.

I don't know why that is happening to you. I get reports of players improving as well as going downhill.

I get both, I'd say it's about even. Are your coaches any good? Are you playing players in levels they are not ready for?

You can let the AI manage your minor leagues by using the manager/options/minor league lineups drop down on the menu bar

Beats me. I have it set for minor league managers to make roster moves, etc.

StyxNCa, do you still feel you are getting an unbalanced number of scouting emails?

I have had games where I feel that every bit of news was bad news when it comes to this sort of thing. But in other games it is far more balanced. It all depends on the quality of your development staff, scouts, and the players. It just seems that your minor league system is not quite quality.

The coaches I have and scouts I have are the same ones I have always had. Many of my minor league coaches are former major league coaches that were fired by their teams, so their teaching ratings and handling player ratings are far above your normal minor league coaches. My head scout is the best in the league and he rarely has steered me wrong in 5 plus seasons. Luck of the draw, I guess, when I set the league up.

My system has been the #1 system since season 2 (I am now into season 6), but after converting to 2007, with no real changes in my system, my system has fallen to #5 and still going down. I considered the idea that maybe the scouts are losing their abilities, but I think I read somewhere that coaches and scouts can't get worse than what they are, but who knows.

I have received a few positive updates, but those were players who couldn't go down any farther than they were, players who were there to fill up space basically (because I have been too lazy to go into my minors and release players). They have a LOT of improving to do if they even hope to move up in my minor league system.

So, I don't know what it is in 2007 that sees things in a different light than 6.5 or 2006 did, but something has been changed a bit.

I am just going to go through this season and see what results. Maybe things will average out. I have moved most of the players down a level and I'm waiting to find out if that will help them any, perhaps they were just too far up in the system.

I am within a couple of weeks of the draft and I am looking forward to that.

One of the aspects of OOTP 07 that seems greatly improved over last year is prospect development. While in OOTP 2006, top prospects were close to sure things, this year I'm finding a lot of prospects regress, a lot of flameouts and disappointments. While it can be frustrating, of course, it feels a lot more realistic, and I'm finding this version of the game much more interesting and challenging because of it.

The development engine is quite a bit different in v2007 than it was in earlier versions.
