Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I was playing my 1998 season with the Texas Rangers. Randy Johnson got injured (day-to-day) and his performance dropped like 33% or so and he would be hurt for 1-2 weeks. Normally when something like this happens with a star like Johnson, I just leave him in the starting rotation instead of placing him on the DL.
I started simming some games and noticed that on the schedule screen where it shows all the games for the day, when it was Johnson's spot in the rotation to pitch, there was no name for my starting pitcher. At first I just thought it was b/c he was hurt and they would just go to the next guy in the rotation, which they did. But then after 2 weeks past i got suspicious. I went check my pitchers and Randy Johnson was gone!!! I type his name in the search and low and behold, Oakland had signed him.....IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON!!! He still had years left on his contract, yet he signs with the A's in the middle of the season. I was a bit pissed, but I switched to Commish mode, went to the trade screen and forced Oakland to trade Randy Johnson back to me for nothing. But this is obviously a bug. I just wanted to let everyone know and to see if anybody else has experienced this. Hopefully someone will TT it if it has not been already (I haven't seen it). |

the ai loves to waive players (too much love), either control the transactions yourself or turn off waivers for the league and this won't continue to happen.

That's where my problems lies. I'm playing with Waivers off and I can't find anywhere on the transactions report that he was ever released. He signed with Oakland while still apart of my team. Something has got to be wrong with that, doesn't everyone agree?

I agree, and this is the third or fourth report of this happening.

Do you know if someone TT'd it? Because, even I've only seen it happen 1 or 2 times, no one wants to lose a player like Randy Johnson in the middle of the season during a division title run.

The problem is that many posters use topic titles like yours that leave no clue as to what the problem is. I spent ten hours on Saturday going back over two weeks of posts in this forum. I think I remember one where a player took a guy from an AI team in the same way that the AI took Johnson from you, and another where someone was going over transaction logs and noticed one AI team doing it to another.
I just checked the two most recent pages in 'logged items' and no titles jumped out at me as being related to this. |

Are you the human manager of this team, not in commissioner mode, and with manager options set where you control the transactions and not the AI or coaches?

Yes, I am the human manager on this team. I do, however, play in the commissioner mode during the season so that if I do bad, I don't get fired. All my roster moves, transactions, lineups, etc. are set for me to control, no the AI.

I seem to remember reading on a thread that is not good practice to play in "Act As" mode.
(I can understand you not wanting to be fired....but after the 8th or 9th time is gets easier....believe me) |

Is anyone seeing this behavior using the full second patch, version 2.0.2.53?

As this thread has received no reply in a week, it will now be closed. If you need any further help with it, all you have to do is ask a moderator to re-open the thread and we can continue to troubleshoot the problem. Thanks.
