Performing Illegal Operation

I have windows 98 and just downloaded the trial of 2007. It installs correctly but when I try to open up the game it dies and gives me this message : OOTP2007 caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:00000003.

OOTP5 runs on my machine fine.

Please advise.

2007 is not supported by Windows98, which is actually noted on at least some of the specification lists (minimum operating system Win2000).

If you don't want to upgrade to XP, the only other thing you could try - though this is completely unsupported - is to install WINE in windows (probably using Cygwin or Putty) and run it under WINE. You'd have to be pretty technically proficient to do this, so it's probably easier to upgrade to XP.

Of course, you could download Virtual PC from Microsoft for free, install a linux distro in the virtual machine, and install WINE there. A search of the forums here should then turn up a post by me on how to get 2007 running under WINE.
