Issue with cash in trades
Latest patch:
This is surely related to issues that have been brought up previously, though I wasn't able to find a breakdown of the issue in a previous thread, so I'll post here my thoughts about the problem. There seem to be issues whenever cash is included in trades, when one of the teams involved has a budget shortfall, and will still have a shortfall after the trade. I post three screenshots to illustrate: In the first screenshot below, my team (Cincinatti) is attempting to trade Phil Ramsey to Colorado for $10m cash. Ramsey has a Major League contract ($3.5m, so about $1.5m remaining), and Colorado has a massive budget surplus ($15m cash, $26m budget room, $45m current balance). Cincinatti is dumping salary and receiving cash in the trade, and yet 'Cincinatti cannot afford the contracts of the offered players'. Cincinatti isn't even receiving any contracts- only cash. If I change the cash to $1, the trade is still not permitted, so the message clearly pertains to Cincinatti's finances, not Colorado's; the game message identifies the correct team. Cincinatti has a massive budget deficit (about $26 million), so even after shedding Ramsey's contract and receiving $10m from Colorado, the team will still be in the red. My impression, which is corroborated by the next example (two months later in game time), is that trades which include cash will not be allowed by the game whenever one team would have a budget shortfall after trade, regardless of whether the team's bottom line improves. To verify this, I proposed two trades, involving players with minor league contracts (next two screenshots): -In the first, I offer 17 year old David O Higgins to Colorado for 17 year old Darren Washington. Both players have no-salary minor league contracts. No cash is involved, and I can submit the trade; -In the second, the players remain the same, and Colorado adds one dollar to the trade. Cincinatti has a massive deficit, Colorado a massive surplus (so can afford to give up the dollar). Cincinatti now cannot afford the contracts, even though, financially, this trade makes Cincinatti better off than in the previous example. Since the one dollar cash is the only part of the trade with any impact on financials, the game does not appear to manage trades correctly which include cash. |

I've also noticed this problem in the PC version. This appears to be a genuine bug.

Agreed. I've wondered about this one for a while.

This has been claimed fixed for the third patch, as yet unreleased. If you continue to observe this issue after patching, please post as such in Tech Support along with the TT number listed above. Thanks.
