Player Editor Issue
Searching through old threads, I've seen that contact is based on BABIP and Avoid K's. Say that I'm trying to create a World Cup file in OOTP 2007 for a league that uses OOTP 6. I need the Avoid K numbers to remain the same, and I guess, in order for the contact to work, average it out with the BABIP. Is there any way to disable this, and just edit the contact directly?
Also, when I imported a file from OOTP 6 to 2007, the ratings were somewhat off for one team, while the others seem to be perfectly fine. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Also, with the ratings editor, is there any way to have it scale the numbers differently. For instance, if I have ratings out of 100, and the ratings editor has it out of 250.. I have no idea what to put in order to make it convert properly Last edited by kjcrusader09; 07-26-2007 at 12:19 AM. |

The contact rating is a calculated rating based on the other two ratings so you are not going to be able to edit it directly. I don't know anything about the conversions of old versions to this version but I am pretty sure that some ratings changing from version to version should be expected. You can't adjust the scale with which you input, you can test it and figure out what the conversions are though and then you'll know what to enter for each rating.

The scale in the Editor is out of 250 (except for Avoid K, which only goes to 213), but you should really think of it as being out of 200. Ratings over 200 are for superhuman players, for players who need to have ratings higher than 100/100. This makes conversion easy- if you want a player to have, say, Power of 80/100, double it in the Editor (give him 160).
Contact cannot be inputted directly, and is actually a combination of three factors (BABIP, Avoid K and Power). Contact is directly related to expected batting average. The factors combine, at least in the stats projection in the Editor, as follows: -Power gives a certain number of HRs per 550 ABs; -Avoid K determines how many Ks a player will have per 550 ABs; -If the batter doesn't K or HR, the ball is in play, and BABIP determines the percentage of balls in play which are hits (1Bs, 2Bs or 3Bs). Things are a bit messy because the effect of BABIP depends on how many balls are in play. For a player who homers and strikes out a ton, BABIP will have much less of an effect than for a player with no power and who always makes contact. The exact formulas are here (post 9): http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar....php?p=2265495 Last edited by injury log; 07-26-2007 at 07:41 AM. |
