Mac Version 8.0.0.13 crashing
I recently purchased the latest version for Mac of OOTP (8.0.0.13) and have repeated problems with the program crashing. Here's the info:
My computer: Mac 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4 with 2 GB of DDR SDRAM. My operating system is OS X version 10.5.1. I begin a new historic season - most recently 1931 - and make it all the way through to right after the World Series. The date on the window was 10.8.31 - and right after the SISA Scouting ML runs, the program crashes. This has happened 5 times, on three different seasons. I can't seem to get past the 10.8 or 10.9 date. I have checked to make sure my program is up to date, and I get a message indicating that I'm running the most recent version. Any idea what's happening? Can you recommend a fix? Thanks! |

I'm having the same problem on a 20" Intel Imac. I've tried numerous seasons and nothing seems to help. It ONLY seems to happen on a historical though, at least so far...

same problem as well.
for some odd reason I have been able to play past the 1st season only if i start a historic league on either 1971 or 1976. but other then that.....after the world series its crash time. I've seen many other mac users say the same thing. Hopefully some sort of patch happens but I've yet to even see this problem acknowledged so I wouldn't hold your breath. I've had a wee bit of sunshine. I opened up my OOTP 2006 (Yes, like all good Mac users I throw NOTHING away) and created 1911, simmed it through 1912 quickly w/no team just to see. Imported it to OOTP 2008 and voila! I was able to quickly zip through to 1913, again not as manager, but at least it played. I suspect there's an issue with the league file creation in 2008 that the techies have overlooked. Anybody else want to try this with other years and report their luck?

interesting.
the one trick for me in trying this however is that I had the PC version of 2006 and now have a mac. I wonder if I can use the same serial number for a mac version?? Hey Gehringer.....try this for me...i just want to see if it works for you....try starting a new historical league starting in 1971 and see if it gets you past the 1st season. It works for me and i'm curious if its just a glitch or something in the programming. |

I'd really like to know where customer support for these kinds of things are!!! This is one reason why SI was a god thing IMO....It's really enough to make my blood boil. Here is a new version called OOTP 8!!...please buy it even though it's basically the same as the last version, but we here at OOTP Developments don't have time to help if people have problems.

1971 season
Yes, I was able to create a 1971 and play through entirely inside 2008. Thank God I was only doing it for fun, as my beloved Tigers opened 4-22 in 72. Don't think I'll keep this one in the saved games area!

Sorry to clutter the posts but...
Have you considered Paralells or some other PC emulator or installing XP on the Mac (if an Intel)? That's how I'm accessing the utilities that used to be out of reach to me.
