Historical league Crashes Pre-1977
When I try to start a Historical League in an earlier year than the `default' 1977, when I click to go to next step, it crashes with the error that OOTP8 has stopped working.
I tried uninstalling Lahman 55 and reinstalling Lahman, but the same thing happens. The weird thing is that it works ok with lahman 54 version. I can start a historical league if I just accept the default 1977 that comes up with the league creation wizard, or if I use a more recent year ie; 1980. I have tried hitting `enter' many times after entering a custom start date, thinking it wasn't recognizing my input, but still the same crash when I click to go to next step. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire OOTP8, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks Last edited by emcgman; 05-23-2008 at 07:51 PM. Reason: clarification of starting dates |

You are using version 8.0.0.13 of OOTP?
Are you importing complete MLB history? If so, could you try disabling that during league creation? |

Here's the error message I get when I try to install the 8.0.013 patch.
`APP_Framework::startup failed to load backround image. Please reinstall OOTP' Well, of course I've uninstalled/reinstalled/installed over the existing OOTP at least 6-7 times in the last few days. Nothing makes any difference, I can't install the 8.0.013 patch. I have, however solved the problem of creating a historical game. Instead of using the `wizard', I click `advance options' at bottom of wizard, and it closes the wizard and now I just create a game from the main `create new game' screen. For some reason this works like a charm. I still haven't figured out how to get the patch installed, though. If I get ambitious, I will uninstall OOTP8, and search every file in my comp, and delete any remaining related files I find. There are at least 2-3 different folders, including one containing some config files, so maybe that will work. Thanks again! Last edited by emcgman; 05-26-2008 at 05:57 AM. |

Ok, I've solved the patching issue, although I really don't know why it worked. Here is what I did.
I completely uninstalled OOTP8, and then manually deleted any remaining files I found in other folder locations. In Vista, OOTP8 is installed to 2 main locations. 1) User/documents/out of the park developments/ootp8/data 2) Program files/out of the park developments/ootp8 BTW; in Vista, the auto uninstall only uninstalls the components in the `user/documents/out of the park/ootp8 path, which is not the main game engine path. I had to manually delete the actual game and config files from the `program files/out of the park/ootp8 path, myself. Then, I reinstalled using the main OOTP8 setup. Somehow, miraculously, the version that existed after the fresh install was version 8.0.013!! I didn't have to separately patch the game, it just installed to the current version. So now I am plumb tuckered out, and I am going to start up my ultimate league, and play OOTP8, while waiting for OOTP9! Here's hoping this info might help someone else. The main thing is if you're having trouble be sure to completely uninstall all installed components, only then will you get a true, fresh install. |
