[TEAM NAME] has an illegal number of players on the active roster
I created a league off of a template set to begin in 1958, and am attempting to simulate through to 2008 with periodic expansions and franchise relocation. I also have feeder leagues that I am adding teams to as I go along.
After my latest expansion (1983), I added a new feeder league of "junior colleges". I proceeded to get an error on April 1 of my simulation that said "Wynnewood College has an illegal number of players on the active roster (6)." I have received that in the past, so I went into game setup and used the "fill all teams with fictional players" command on that league, as well as my other college and high school feeders; I also used the "Set all computer-controlled teams to allow AI roster changes" command. But I kept getting the same error. Finally, I released all players out of that feeder and re-filled them. Now I'm getting "Mattawan College has an illegal number of players on the active roster (0)." The strange thing, though? I don't have any teams by either name in any league. My other college feeder has teams renamed for states, so it may be that they came from teams I renamed in that league, but I didn't add teams this time around and they worked perfectly before. There were some threads in General Discussion about the "illegal players" part, but not that have to do with this specific issue. I appreciate any help I can get. I don't want to have to start over with this league unless I absolutely have to. Thank you very much. |

This happened to me awhile back too. I ended up having to delete the entire feeder and then creating a new one and then immediately fill this new feeder with fictional players. Releasing and filling the "corrupt" feeder didn't work.

Was the template created under v2007, OOTP8, or OOTP9?

2007. The thing is, everything worked for 25 (simulated) years until I added the new feeder. So I'm guessing that is the issue. |
