Any differences in DataBases?

Which database do people prefer? I play historical replay using real MLB players and leagues starting in 1948. Is one DB better than the other? I currently have used the default one, Lahman I think, from the OOTP game.

If I switched DB's would I have to start a new league?

Thanks for the info, I really enjoy OOTP and the great help here on the Forum!!!!!!!!!!

All of us db makers made ours because of something we felt was lacking in the standard Lahman. Even the standard Lahman needed to be altered a tiny bit to work well with OOTP. Missing birthdates and handedness and other essentials needed to be filled in/guessed at. Which means the Lahman Master.csv has been altered for OOTP.

The neutralized stats db built in to OOTP is also an altered Lahman.

There is a Japanese db by murmur13
and a Gambo db that I'm not too clear on what it does
and a Spritze/Garlon db (which is basically the neutralized stats db included in the game with a few extra additions)
and a Spritze db - which does not have neutralized stats but does include about 1200 historical players for each year so one can have semi-full minors and one may watch players develop
and most likely many others.

Basically once you have played OOTP awhile and know what annoys you most about the historical aspects of OOTP you can pick a db specifically made to de-annoy yourself of that particular annoyance. In which case you are no longer annoyed and become a happy OOTPer and go on to great and glorious achievments in the OOTP community.

And no you do not need to create a new league but most likely you will want to.

Thanks for the info. I have played a couple of seasons so far and have foumd that sometimes the right players dont end up where and when they should. I have read some of the past threads about the DB's but wasnt really sure what I was missing.

Thanks again.
