Restoring backup file
I have a new computer with Vista and I have downloaded ootp9. I then imported the world.dat file which did great. I went to restore the backup file which is on an external drive. I entered the backup file's location and created a new file name however when I push to restore I get an error message for me to select a backup set from the list first and there's nothing in the avialable backup sets. What is the answer to this problem?
What are backup sets? I always thought it was enough to use backup and then place the file in a safe place. Is there a way for me to get the backup file back in the game? Last edited by geffprice; 10-05-2008 at 04:24 PM. |

restore
I figured it out. The sets refer to the league extensions such as default.lg. I originallly tried to restore only the last backup file, but then I realized that the sets in my case would be MLB.lg and Default. lg. So I chose MLB.lg with my restore file name at the bottom called jimrestore and the backup then went through all the backups so it would include the entire database info. Then I went into the game and loaded the saved game entitled jimrestore.lg and all my present season is now in the game.
I'm sure most already understand this precedure, but if there are other first timers like me trying to restore backup files maybe this explanation will help. By the way the help menu in the online manual was helpful, but I had to read it several times before it dawned on me that "sets" were actually league extensions. |
