Crashes on startup - PC

I am brand new to OOTP. I downloaded 9.2 today and installed it without a problem. (PC, Athlon 1.8 w/ 1 gig memory) However, when I launch I receive a microsoft error message saying there is a problem with ootp9.exe and it needs to close. I have tried re-installing but I encounter the same problem. What am I missing here?

Patch 9.2.1, which is due out by tomorrow, last I knew. That is intended to address the startup issues.
