Historical Settings for player development?

I have a 1974 historical league. I manage all the teams.

I've done some re-editing on the fielding ratings which is my problem. I have recalc on, but I understand recalc will erase my fielding ratings every year.

So, I want to set my development (from 1-200?) to 1. I'm hoping for the least amount of change as I turn off recalc.

However, any ideas what I should set the development levels to? The defaults are 1.000. But, I've seen the fictional guys push pitching development up to 1.6 and stuff like that.

Any reason I should touch the development levels with recalc off in an historical league? If so, what setting is suggested?

Thanks much!
