Which League total modifiers for a fictional 1871 league ?
Hi all ! I am going to try a fictional league starting in 1871 and wonder how to deal with the league totals. I found proposed league totals for 1871 historical leagues around the forum (thanks Spritze) but they do not seem to work properly with my fictional players which may be because of the 1871 PCM's. I got absolutely no homeruns in 28 games between my 8 teams and the leagues strikeout leader had 2 K's.
Should I try other modifiers (which) or should I change the PCM's ? I have found the suggestion to reset the PCM's to 1 and just go with the league total modifiers for a 1901 start, has anybody gotten similar numbers for 1871 ? |

A possible work around:
Set up a dummy test league. Have "adjust league totals modifiers" on. Sim out the 1871 season, advance to the 1872 preseason. The league totals modifiers will have reset themselves to produce the correct 1872 numbers. Write these down, start a new league, copy those numbers into your new league, set up the same way. That's the only thing I can think of. Not even sure if that will work. I had this same issue though trying to set up a league in 1901 - the first year is always a little "off" and the second year is fine due to the modifiers resetting. You could also modify these 4 .txt files, located in the /database folder:
era_modifiers.txt, era_fielding.txt, era_stats.txt, financials.txt. Just add an addtional line for the year you want to include, basing it on the year before. This enables you to get correct numbers across the board, including payroll...
