Database Could Not Load Face Files

I am using 9.2.12 version.
PC
I was working on filling the reserve rosters with players signed from the free agent screen.
I was signing free agents for the reserve roster and creating new player photos when I got a message that OOTPB had to close because of an .exe problem. After this crash when I tried to load the game it would give the message "Database could not load face files".

I saw the thread where anelson02 had the same problem and solved it by removing the face file with zero bytes in it. I understand the game will load if you do this, but you will lose all of your photos.

I have a backup of the league. Can I take the face .dat file from that league and copy it to the league that has zero bytes in the face file and restore it the player pictures?

Your help is appreciated.

Thank the Good Lord for backups.

It worked. I just put the backup face file in to replace the zero bytes face file and all is well in the Ruthlandian-Tycobbian Pro Alliance.

Thanks to Nutlaw and anelson02 for solving this for me.

Anyone know why this happen? Is it something I'm doing in the game, a game bug or is it just a computer glitch?

The game has crashed one other time while I was doing the same thing, but it reloaded alright and hasn't occurred again in several weeks. After the initial crash...only .exe crash, no face file problems... I began to backup after working on each team, just in case it shut down, I would only lose that one team's roster changes rather than an entire day's work.

No idea why the crashes happen. Usually, I only hear about this issue happening when the game date turns to Jan 1 (not that I know why it happens then either). If it happens again or you can find a way to reproduce it at will, let's discuss it further.
