Help With Manually Expanding Historical League

I need some help setting up my 1960 historical American League. I want to be able to manually expand at the end of the 1960 season. In other words, instead of having the AI fill the rosters of the new 1961 L.A.Angels and Washington Senators with the historical players who they actually drafted, I would like to conduct that draft manually myself. Is there a way to do this in OOTP12? If so, what setting should I use?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1. turn on Commish mode, and if i am not mistaken you can draft who you want to each team when the expansion draft comes around. + plus although in 12 you have real rosters transactions etc, I dont know (since i am on 11) if that applies to expansion). If not on the game won;t protect the same people that were actually protected in '60 (Sorry I am sure you knew that)
Although I havent reached 1961 in my historical league yet, for my fictional league I handle the amateur & expansion drafts myself.

Another option (not sure if this is exactly what you have in mind when you say you want to draft manually) is to just create the new teams ("edit league structure" button in the editors section of the game setup screen) and then decide the players those teams are going to draft. Then transfer them manually by opening the player profile, going to the editor tab, and on the left transferring them to their new club with the dropdown options under "Team Information, Select New Team".

This may be a less elegant method than what you had in mind, but it should do the trick.

Just setup your league to "not" exand/move teams according to history.

Then when your 1960 season is over, add the teams through league setup. Once you've expanded hold an expansion draft. Teams will have to protect players, and then the new teams will draft based on who's available.

Very important ALWAYS back up before you make changes to league structure and keep multiple backs. I just had a league I started in 1871 get messed up in 1898 because I deleted the wrong team and for some reason backed up afterward. It is not as bad with expansions because until the team plays a game you can change names or delete without history records but the only way to get a deleted team back is to go to a backup.

Thanks for all of the prompt advice, especially Bluenoser. In the end I decided to expand after the 2010 season (as if baseball needs more teams!). The only tricky part was deciding on how many players to allow each team to protect, given the limitations of the current game in this area. I settled on protecting 24 and that seems to be a good medium for getting a few good players and a lot of hangers on.
