Ed Bagley batting stats
Cant find this player's batting stats in the lahman database. He is showing as playing in 1885 according to Retrosheet and Baseball Refernce.

He's in the Lahman database. ID is begleed01. Obviously the ID looks like it doesn't match the beginning of the last name like it normally does.

Researchers changed his last name by finding out who the heck he really was. It happens pretty often. Same with players ages (birthdays). Even a players handedness may change over time as new information becomes available. When they find a right-handed player had the nickname "Lefty" it often causes a change in a players demographic details. That is just the way the cookie crumbles.
