windows / linux keys

Hi,

I'm wondering if there was ever a change to the way keys were done. I have one Windows PC and a Linux PC here at the house. When the kids and wife are using the Windows PC I'm on my Linux PC.

Are the Windows/Mac and Linux keys still done from separate systems requiring two separate purchases?

Thanks

I assuming since there has been 55 views of the post and no replies it's yes to the question.

I'll keep using the free version of ootp8 through wine. Don't dual boot and even though wine indeed works it comes with own little problems. I'm assuming Steam would resolve this issue if available.

Yes, Linux license is separate from PC/Mac. You would have to purchase an extra copy.

I haven't tried in a few years, but I've had success running the Windows version of OOTP through Wine in the past.

I do indeed have the free oopt8 running fine through wine. Well as good as can be expected. Has some problems of it's own but no deal breakers.

That being said you never know how wine will act with updates to the distro it's running on or the wine package itself. Nothing worse than spending the night debugging wine after some update.

Did you tweak wine to get it to run well? I've tried running ootp8 3 or 4 times on a couple different ubuntu/wine combos and it would always run for a couple months of game time and then the database would get corrupted.
