QMJHL Beta Testing

OK guys just got the latest build and simulated a couple of seasons. Here are some comments:

TRADE PERIOD: QMJHL teams are not supposed to be able to make trades any time they want. There is a trading period during Christmas time.

SCORING: Not enough scoring. I've had trouble getting any player scoring at more than a point-per game clip. We all know the QMJHL is high-scoring league and I can't change the settings to allow for more goals. Only got a handful of teams above 2 goals per game as well. Goalies have ridiculous stats. There is something wrong here.

RATINGS: Although scoring is wrong, it seems as though at least the right players (or thereabout) are at the top of the scoring list. Some players need major editing as I've posted about before, but it's not that bad. What I'm still questionning is how regular junior players have 17 or 18 in some categories and have 5-star ability ratings... I'm not sure if that means they are just as good as any NHLer? Most junior players should be under 10/20 in most ratings...

TRADING: I havn't tried to make deals yet but I have noticed most trades that happen are mostly one-for-one and there are never any draft picks involved. Very weird and unusual. The players getting traded for each other are roughly of equal value most of the time, at least.

TECHNICAL STUFF: Can't stop sim when pressing ESC, not sure how to view full team-by-team player stats, can't sort stats by rookies, goalies don't record assists or shutouts, it's possible to have more players on protected list than the maximum, can't sort by position on protected list.

Really not sure why the ESC key doesn't work while trying to stop the sim. I was simming up until the CHL import draft but since my assistant coach is taking care of it the game kept on simming and now I'm in October and the sim won't stop. Basically that thing will run wild for the next 1 000 years or what ? Really should have made sure the ESC key works... lol

- Why should I pay something to release prospects from my protected list? Teams do this all the time.

- Since date of birth is so important in the CHL, instead of writing their actual age I would like to see their date of birth or age as of this season (i.e. maximum three 20 years old per team, etc)

- Really unclear where to look for Memorial Cup results and reviews, QMJHL draft review and CHL import draft review...

- Still weird to see all the players on my team that are signed to NHL contracts appeared in the tab that's named 'unsigned prospects'

- Would like to see less NCAA prospects and more Midget AAA players being drafted in June...

I'm aware of all of this. I was testing earlier today. It'll all get better over time and before the official release. There are some things I have to wait for development team to fix before I can fix some things revolving around the league.

It's all good, but this is a place to post issues regarding the beta so that's what I'm doing! I know everything will be fixed before the official release, but we've been asked to test the game out so I'm just reporting problems I have ran into.

By the way, there are still some things I hope you guys will fix regarding the ratings. How come a guy like Xavier Ouellet is the 3rd best rated D on his team? Why are some younger players like Kielly, Ratelle, Billia, Hébert, Aube-Kubel, Koys, Perron and much more are rated so low on potential whereas undrafted overragers like Maillet or Zach O'Brien are 5-stars? Makes no sense to me and I have no idea why anyone would rate them as such right from the get-go.

If you need someone to do a spreadsheet on which players should have higher/lower abilities and potential just ask and I'll help as well as the french community from ''nous les fans''.

How are the protection list coming along?

Also Philippe Desrosiers on Rimouski is 31 years old in the game...

As well, scouting seems to be broken. I can't seem to assign scouts to my short list. Can't seem to be able to scout free agents (should be easier/quicker to do so). The draft is extremely weak since there are no Quebec Midget players available to draft which is just wrong. Quebec midget and Maritimes midget should make 95% of the players drafted in the Q.

To get them, every team would need to be contact and that doesn't mean they will give the list. We're working on it in another way instead. Might not be 100%, but it's better than 0.

If you can find lists through "Nous les fans", that would be great.

Also being a fan* of the Q, I've noticed a lot of what has been mentioned in this thread. (Personally waiting a few months before playing much further as the Q will be my starting grounds as a GM.)

*I only get to watch a couple games a year because I now live in the Yukon and used to live in Nova Scotia. Still try to watch it as much as possible, but I can't even stream it often because we have stupid bandwidth limits here.

That'll change sometime before the final release, yeah. As for now, we're using schedules, rules etc for 12/13 since 13/14 aren't available etc as of yet.

For the life of me, I cannot find this either! :P

I can see my team played a game ... as there's an option to Play blah blah instead of just "finish today"

You guys are already probably aware of this but when I got to the CHL import draft in my first season, there were no players to draft!

Also, it blocked my sim before the regular draft AND import draft and asked me to drop players from my protected list in order to have at least 14 spots open. In real life, teams are not required to do so since they can forfeit picks. And definitely not before the CHL import draft since there are only two rounds... lol

Also, as I stated before, it would be smart to easily see JUNIOR AGE instead of their real age... I should never see anyone that's 21 or 15 years old when playing as junior team... oh and automatically drop 21 years olds from my list as soon as my team is eliminated.
