Minimum Leagues in Fictional Game?
This question I've had for a little bit: How many different leagues minimum would make for a good fictional game? I keep seeing the term "baseball WORLD" being thrown around in-game, and think there should be at least more than 1 league in the "world", and that it wouldn't seem right to have just one league.
This is also my thought process with the real-world mode. "Would there still be Japanese imports and the like if I only have the MLB selected and not the ***?" I keep thinking to myself, so I just put in both and go from there. So, is it OK if I do just one league, or is it better to have multiple different leagues in a fictional game? Because I see "world" and feel there should be more. |

The smaller the better.
The less there is, the more you get know what is going on. A big huge world of 50 leagues in 47 countries quickly becomes a blur of information and it all starts to look the same. Some of the best fun I ever had was in an 8 team league where I managed every team. I really got to feel a part of the world rather than just a passenger on a jetliner flying over at 30,000 feet..... |

Like Questdog said, less can be more.
But it is great we have the option. If I had ten or so friends who were die hard playing this with me I'd love a world where we all scout the internationals looking for talent to add to our teams... but with just me? I ended up deleting my international leagues and just turning on the "international established free agents" option for my league. |

I prefer the small world setup. My favorite is two leagues, each with eight teams, with no free agents.
Without free agency teams remain much the same from one year to the next. This allows me to know the teams and their players. While I use the American League / National League structure, you could easily have an American / Japanese configuration. |

I agree that smaller is better, especially if you are new to the game. And to address this particular point, if you have international free agents enabled, you'll still have international players from Japan enter your MLB league, even if you don't have the *** set up in your game. Same goes for players from Mexico, Cuba, etc.
