Team nicknames

I'm new to OOTP,(As of today) and I'm old. 72 …
but I love baseball and grew up playing Strat-o-matic and APBA.
Excited to get into OOTP.

Question: I want to replay the 1966 season, managing one team. Can I change the nicknames of the teams so I have the Atlanta Braves not the Atlanta Undertakers???

Any help is much appreciated

It's something to do with MLB restrictions. I tremble to say this, but try using the randomize team nicknames function a few times. You may like the results . . .

Yes, you can definitely change the names!

As Deja mentioned, the reason they don't start with the true names is because of licensing issues.

Have you gotten the league started, just haven't changed the names? If so, do the following to change the names:

1. Go to the Game menu and select Game Settings.
2. Click on League Settings
3. In the top right-ish corner there is a drop-down with league names in it. Make sure the league that has names you want to change is selected.
4. Click on Leagues and Teams
5. Change all of the team nicknames to their proper values.
6. Continue playing!

There are also ways you can download all of the correct logos, jerseys, and even photos of the players! This community has done some really tremendous stuff for historical replays!
