Manager vs GM vs Both
I'm curious about this new feature. You could always set the CPU to control the GM functions, and you always had the option to manage or sim the games themselves. So are there any new capabilities in this feature?
What I would really like is to play the role of manager, but also have some input into team personnel. For example, I could tell the GM I want a left handed late inning reliever, maybe even suggest some players. The computer GM would do its best to get that player, and handle the free agent negotiations and signings. This seems to be more the way it works IRL, since I doubt there are any managers who strictly manage games, and have no input to personnel decisions. I would love this feature. I always like to play my games out, because to me the manager aspect is far more enjoyable. I dislike the tedium of negotiating contracts, I doubt real GM's really like that part of their job.
But it would be nice to be able to say, try to keep player X or you can trade this one, and maybe give some requests like a fast lead off man, or a power hitting right fielder, and the AI will consider such options you asked for. |

Manager vs GM vs Both
FM has the feature of suggesting players to the GM and I love it!

I love the OP's suggestion. I'm hoping we might get the opposite as well. If I'm in manager only mode, I would love it if the GM had the ability to pressure me into playing a certain player (think the moneyball movie, when Billy traded a player away because his manager insisted on playing him over another guy).
Really hoping manager mode takes off and becomes a huge part of the game. Like Mortimer I dislike negotiating contracts. Really hoping as a manager I have to sign a contract with a team and when it's up, I have the option to negotiate a new one or take my services elsewhere. So excited about this feature. |

Cosmetic and not a big deal, but I'm hoping that if I decide to manage only, my facegen picture is in a uniform and not a suit.

I hope in OOTP17 they implement a GM leaderboard. That way we know where our GM only career ranks amongst the leagues history.

sorry about my post above, I guess i put it in the wrong thread
![]() Being Manager only with those options could be alot of fun. Adding further depth would be that certain GMs have a repetition of listening to their manager feedback more often while others don't. See if you're a manager, and are offered a job, you might look at the GM and see if he values your opinion before accepting.

Bumping this because I want to hear from someone how the new manager feature is different from just assigning GM functions to the AI as before. Please?

Curious if this new feature will allow two different humans to play these two roles?
I'm thinking about an online league in which one person plays the GM role, another person plays the manager. Last edited by dankrzyz; 01-27-2015 at 03:11 PM. |

I wish there was some more info on this feature as others have asked and how it will work for converted V15 leagues.

If you play as GM+Manager, can you fire yourself?
