Schedule and dates

I cannot figure out how the schedule works in OOP. I added some historic teams and then hit the schedule button but not games are scheduled at the top of the home page even though a schedule has been created. It appears that the preseason is over because I cannot adjust the teams.

When the schedule was previously showing at the top of the page it says that the games start on April 5. Is that a week from now? Month from now? Two days from now?

Also, if I want to play one of the games rather than the computer how does that work?
