The AI trading is pretty good in historical leagues.

I started a thread bashing the current day Trading AI. But I have several Historical Leagues and most of the trades seem pretty good. I monitor all trades in every league and the only ones I seemingly want to reverse are in my current day leagues.

For instance, last night, in my 77 league (up to 79), I am managing the Blue Jays (I like taking downtrodden teams and hopefully making them good...I'm still not to .500 yet, tho....)

My favorite team, the Bucs, managed by the AI made two deadline deals They picked up Rudy May and Graig Nettles for some prospects and change.

May (a 48 starter) came over for Dale Berra (32/44) and Alberto Lois (20/26 OF). Nettles (54 3bman who is 34 but not playing much) came over for Steve Nicosia 30/44 C and Odell Jones (22/48) Pitcher.

Both had good last two months and the Bucs won the NL East.

This has been pretty consistent for me. I didn't start 'unliking' the AI until I started playing the current day seasons starting with OOTP 13.

So, I just wanted to point out the fairness of the Historical AI in trading. I have no complaints with it at all. And, as for the current day AI, as I said on the other thread, I can live with it. It CAN'T be easy to program.

I bet if you got rid of the massive minor league system that's part of modern day play, you would see that the AI be just as sound as it is for historical play. The MLB quickstart is just massive and when you start factoring things like waivers, players right to refuse trips to the minors, free agency etc, it's actually pretty darn amazing what the AI accomplishes.

How would you even begin to go about doing that for modern play? It would be interesting to try that.

" it's actually pretty darn amazing what the AI accomplishes"

I am coming around to that point of view....
