Effects of playoff byes on teams

My fictional league just recently expanded and I am thinking about adding a couple of teams to the playoffs as well. I want to add a bye for my highest seed, but I have some concerns.

I plan to add a 5 game series which means up to a week off for the #1 seed. Now in real life this would be a huge disadvantage as the team would get very rusty waiting to play. But this isn't real life and I want the bye to be a hard earned reward.

So does OOTP model that rust? Would I end up hindering my #1 seed or would it not matter?

I thought about this the other day too. I'm also thinking of having the #1 seed face the worst team in the league for this very reason. And heck, race to the bottom would be kind of fun!

I'm not sure about OOTP but in real life the KBO the first place team gets a rather long bye as the second, third, and fourth place teams engage in a staggered playoff. In spite of the layoff the first place team nearly always wins the Korean Series.
