Curious about League Totals

Just a question.
Wondering why the default league totals are so high when starting a fictional league. I know in a sense it is no big deal as we can change them to whatever we want,

But more for new players to the game who don't know this stuff yet, will be playing a year set up for super power offence (if they click the auto recalc). Wondering why the default ML setting in a fictional world was not the same or similar to the modern setting of the MLB quickstart.

While we are at it. Second question concerns the player modifiers by year. I have noticed the year numbers have basically not change since at least OOTP 12 maybe even eearlier. I think I recall in ootp8 for example that the 2001 contact number is 1.007 ( a slight bump over the basic created player in that field.)
However in OOTP 12 the created hitters were very good compared with today. a 1.000 in OOTP in a hitter category is not the same as 1.000 in OOTP 12. So wondering if those previous years player creation modifiers need an adjustment to make them more in line to what one should really expect for those years. under current game conditions 2001 might need 1.030 for contact and power, maybe even more.

Anyway, just throwing those observations out there

I'm curious about this too. I noticed that the OOTP 16 fictional default league totals are different from the OOTP 15 defaults (notably, more HRs and more walks). My main league is one that I imported from OOTP 15, so I'm still using the v.15 defaults, but I'm curious what the impact would be if I start a new league.

The effects of the league totals are often described on these boards as "counter-intuitive." I know that even the OOTP 15 defaults are different from recent actual MLB league totals, but I've been happy with the results using the v.15 defaults. Just wondering why they were changed for OOTP 16 and what the implications of that are for anyone who is used to running an "out of the box" fictional league in OOTP 15 and would want to do the same in 16 (assume no recalc).

The default league totals for fictional minor leagues appear to have not changed at all from v.15 to 16.

For what year?

I have started fictional leagues in various years with default settings and not seeing this.

The default, if you start with 2015 settings.
