Waiver Wire Aggression
The AI needs to be far more aggressive in making waiver wire claims.
I see many good, affordable players pass through waivers so regularly that I had to make a house rule that I wouldn't grab them. That didn't matter as now they just pass through waivers and are sent to the minors of the waiving club while other clubs could certainly use them on their major league roster. ![]() /rant

This may be league specific. Certain settings will yield different results. Heck, I had to massage a few settings so the rule 5 draft worked correctly to real life expectations. |

Any suggestions on how to make the AI do more waiver pics?

Waiver Wire Aggression
My advice would be to mess around with different settings. The game has way too many options to pin point. In my save I usually see all of the higher OVR guys (usually players between 2/12 stars and sometimes a 3 star player the AI is trying to dump because of his contract) claimed and rarely slip away but I also us a stat heavy AI evaluation setting which ensure guys who performed better than others are valued more. Are you seeing some players with ok enough stats to get picked up but have a very low OVR rating? Last edited by SirMichaelJordan; 08-06-2015 at 12:05 PM. |

I've got the "player evaluation AI settings" even at 25% per category.

That's the same setting I use. See so many options its hard to pin point. Also around what time of the year are you seeing this? Another thing is how good are these players that are being waived? If they are too good I think that may be a bigger problem. Last edited by SirMichaelJordan; 08-06-2015 at 12:38 PM. |

It could be indicative of overall financial problems in your league. Do teams generally have enough money to take on these kinds of players?

For example, Dennis Eckersley is on the wire now. He's excellent and cheap. It's early August in my season and there are several contending teams that could badly use him as a starter or reliever. But he'll end up in the minors. ![]()

You can't expect a global change in waiver evaluation ie just claim more to be useful because it is very much a team and/or organization specific decision. Some of these decisions conflict with each other especially if the 40-man roster is full. Increasing waiver claims aggressiveness is very likely to result in other good players being released and start a cycle of waivers/claim/waivers/claims which may make the problem worse.
I'm trying to understand how the collection of ratings named Eckersley is so good that he ended up on waivers in the first place. That suggests to me that the problem is not the AI bypassing good players on waivers but more of the AI putting good players on waivers. A very different problem. You say he should be snapped up by good contending teams? Is it clear that they have holes in their pitching and that he is better? Who would they put on waivers or demote? What about salary? What if an AI team claimed Eck and demoted some 23 year old SP with 10 wins? I'd prefer Eck in the minors. Is the team waiving Eckersley good or bad? Can you post some screen shots. Just how many good players are being waived?
