Stats Only Question
First time posting!! I've been following these forums for years and have learned so much over the years! I started playing Stats Only for the first time and i totally love it, i find myself becoming overwhelmed with all the information, I often find myself losing track of all the players i'm looking after and trying to decide to sign, release trade etc. what methods do you use to organize your information so you can refer back to it, any software or just good old excel?!? I appreciate any help that can be provided

So, what sorts of information are you having trouble keeping track of? I play stats only, but I don't seem to have the problem you're having.

I'm playing "Stats mostly" (we need a name for this) and I get it.
Steve, you're just worrying about one team, right? If you have six, it's a handful. I just use excel. I have columns with their options left, salary, Team control situation (Auto-1, Auto-2, Arb-1, etc.) and potential ratings (that's what I still have, POT skills from 2-8). If you have no ratings at all, I imagine OPS+ or WAR from the prior season might be in order.

Yes, I am just worried about one team. However, I guess what confused me is this: the things you mentioned are a struggle to keep track of whether you use stats only or not, aren't they?

Good point and yes. I have a locker room sized dry erase board I used to use for OOTP. As much geeky fun as that was, excel is more practical.

So what I do is replace much of the inane useless information in my brain such as:
1) my niece's and nephew's birthdays 2) my cell phone number 3) my anniversary date 4) the placement of my wallet and keys 5) how to get to the place I'm currently driving to etc.... with the useful knowledge such as how my AA #3 SP did against lefties last year. Try that. |

Wow. I would do really well at that; I'm already doing that.

I manage one team in a 24 team fictional league i created with full minors and feeder leagues, i guess my issue is the amount of stats to go over to field competitive teams, looking for that young free agent to sign or scout players for upcoming drafts... I'm looking for methods of easier player stat tracking, and how does everyone equate the college & high school stats to potential major league success?? any tips or advice would help i love the league i've created but I want to create a more time consuming immersive experience that i've read about in other posts. |
