Future

Just bought the game and enjoying it. Gets frustrating sometimes when my bullpen blows a lead or fielders botch a DP. But that's baseball. My question is when my season is over what happens? Do I have to restart another year and wait for the updates. Or does the game automatically send me to the next year.

You are sent to the next year and beyond. I am in a league that started in 2003 (real life and game time) and we are in 2043. Others have simmed far further into the future.

You can also take the game you are playing now in v16 and import it into v17 next year and continue on. You never have to restart.

My game was started in 2002 with v4. I've imported it into every new version since and 13 years later I am still playing the same game. How many games have you played for 13 real life years and not had to restart?

Just wondering, what in-game year did you start that game and what in-game year is it now?

2002 currently about half way through 2028. I used to get 2-3 seasons per version. Real life has slowed that a bit to more like 1-2 seasons. Which usually means about a season and a half and then import midseason into the next version. I know some don't like to do this but really it is quite safe and it works just fine.

Started with user created real players, the Rolen17 roster set. Real players did not come with the game then. It was the 2002 season managing my Cubs. Called Prior up from Iowa, Sammy was Sammy but was cold in the first round of the playoffs and Alou carried us to the NLCS. Sammy, Prior, and Wood took us the rest of the way. It was a bit too easy to win back then. Each new version has added so much that has made it much harder to win. Roster rules, options, waivers, rule 5, minor league FA, etc. keep you from hording players. The AI is much better at team building and holding onto it's talent. The finances are much better now too. I think I had one team lose money in my last season.

Best bang for the buck game I've ever played.
