Anothe PH Failure

I'm in Sept, after the call ups. Team I'm playing against has 18 pitchers and 22 players. It's the 8th inning, I'm leading 4-1. Their pitcher spot is up to lead off. The friggin' relief pitcher BATS FOR HIMSELF. With at least 12 fresh pitchers, and 12 possible phs. Strikes out on 3 pitches. C'mon guys, this has to get fixed.

Agreed. I am seeing this too and it drives me nuts. My settings are to replace with PH on highest level and it does not do it when clearly there is cause to with available pitchers and pinch hitters

Really hope this gets looked at

In having relivers get between 10-15 abats per season multiple ones. They should be getting 1-3 or none at all. Plus shortage of relivers is not an issue in my games I have a 27 man roster with 13 man staff

I wonder if this has anything to do with the "use of relievers" setting. A new level was added in OOTP 16 ("extreme") as the modern default. I'm using that and I haven't really noticed any weird relief pitcher batting appearances yet. Maybe on one of the lower settings the AI thinks it has to get multiple innings out of the pitcher before replacing him.

This is what I get. Victor Gomez is the first AL pitcher on the list and it seems he made 2 starts in NL home interleague games. Vosquez is the next AL pitcher. Looks pretty good.

Filtering by GS = 0 might be a good idea here.

The complaint was about RP getting too many AB.

Hey Rich, just to clarify. I don't see ros getting that many abs. It's WHEN they bat that bothers me. Like I said, ros hitting in blow outs or to save the pen I can live with, and sometimes do myself. A poor hitting (almost non-existent hitting) rp leading off the 8th down 3 with 10 available phs and 12 available ros (we're is Sept, remember), now THAT bugs me.

Yeah I replied to Padreman re his issue with RP getting too many AB.

My dual point was that if AL RP are getting 3-4 AB per season then it was unlikely that the AB's were at the wrong time.

I think your complaint is legit, but we may differ on whether one game is enough to call for a fix. I'd be in the 5-10 game range. Ten games is 0.2%.

Another thing to consider. After calling up your extra players did you reset the depth chart to include them? The AI is like Tommy (I hope you get the reference).

Unless you tell it it has all these extra players it may not use them.

I reset depth charts (and pitcher roles) hundreds of times in-season for that reason.

Well, that was the computers team, playing against the one I manage. I assume when they call guys up, they reset rotations. Also, while I understand your hesitance, I have seen such occurrences at least 5 times this season. That's only the games I manage. I have no idea how often it might happen in games the computer sims, because I don't save their box scores.

Hey Rich, I started a new season. First game, I'm leading 6-1 in the 7th, they let their relief pitcher (contact 17/100) hit. With a full bullpen totally rested. Then, 3rd game I'm leading 9-2 in the 9th, they get guys on 2nd and 3rd, one out, and again let their relief pitcher hit. This is really ruining the reLity for me.
