Keeping up with the Dodgers
Being born and raised in the Bay Area, and being a lifelong Giants fan (some of my favorite childhood memories are going to Candlestick with my Dad, seeing Mays, McCovey, Marichal, Perry, Bobby Bonds to name a few), I absolutely loathe the Dodgers.
In fact, this past PBA50 Season, we welcomed a former Giant to the tour, John Burkett, who once said, "I'd like to have a 10 year career in Baseball so I can afford to get my PBA card". It was so cool to talk baseball with him. I made the mistake of saying during a conversation about how he relates hitting a spot on the lanes to hitting a spot that's 60 ft away, he quickly said, "60 ft 6 inches!", We both had a laugh. Anyway, just finishing the 2015 Season in which the Dodgers beat us in the Division Series 3 games to 1, and ultimately were crowned World Series Champions after sweeping the Rays. It was SO apparent that their lineup 1-8 was dangerous - full of pop, I knew I had to acquire some power in the offseason.(Belt was leading the league in RBI's (62), had 16 HR while batting .305 when he went down for the season, Posey and Pence were on the DL for long periods of time) I traded/rented for Mike Napoli who eased the power outage until he went on the DL. The likes of Travis Ishigawa and, well no one else, weren't strong enough to keep up with LA. If everyone could stay relatively healthy this season, things may be different, but I can't rely on that happening, so having a HUGE void power-wise at 3B, I worked a trade for Brett Lowrie, who provides pop at a "power position" and is a solid fielder. He was in his arbitration year. It cost me A LOT, 1st and 3rd round draft picks, Angel Pagan, and $2,750,000 cash. The draft picks didn't bother me so much, as I drafted two stud pitchers this past season. The trade-off is okay, cost me a bit of the future, but added a 25 year old who I will lockup for many years. So was feeling good about our situation, and then I read a couple days later that the Dodgers just added Justin Upton to an already potent lineup via Free Agency, lol. Oh well, i'm solid everywhere else, not signing any major FA's, so here's to Upton causing tension in the Dodgers clubhouse!

Here's a surprise, heading into our early season 4 game series vs LA, they lead the league in offense, lol.

Lost 3 of 4, each team pretty much shutdown offense well:
LA 3-1 SF 2-1 LA 3-0 LA 2-1 I can live with that, for now....................

As someone whose team once spent 8 straight seasons out of it in the NL West, staring far up at Lasorda's Bastards in Blue, and whose same team also once had an aged Burkett take the hill for them every fifth day for two seasons, I identify with this far more than would seem to make sense.

It looks as though I posted this in the wrong forum, could this be moved to OOTP Dynasties Forum, please?

At least you got rid of Pagan's salary!
My annual ritual with OOTP was always trying to dump Zito's contract
