Enabling/disabling drug suspensions for fictional leagues?

I know drug related suspensions had to be removed in MLB standard and quickstart games due to the official license, but I thought drug suspensions would remain for fictional league players?

I've been playing through a fictional file for quite awhile now and I have yet to see a single drug related suspension. Has OOTP decided to remove these from the game completely? I just ask because even looking at the league settings, the option isn't even there anymore. There used to be a setting in the suspension part of this screen that read "enable drug suspensions" and you could check or uncheck the box. Has anyone seen PED suspensions in OOTP 16?

I occasionally play with them but play so high level most of the time that I wouldn't even notice who managed to be barred by a drug
Suspension. Plus I wouldn't keep a guy out of the Hall for it.

Did the league start as a real league and eventually become fictional?

The option is still there for fictional leagues:

So if they've been disabled for the Quick Starts why do I have a player in my minors suspended for 40 games? Do they still do the suspensions just with a bogus reason? Can't imagine why else he'd be suspended that long.

What does the news item say?

I had a guy in my fictional league get an 80 game suspension. Ironically he was a relief pitcher and former high draft pick who had basically the "dickhead" personality, so it shouldn't have been too surprising. I'm just wondering if the PEDs affected his performance, as he had gone several years as essentially a below-average mop up guy, then made the ASG and was among the league leaders in WAR for relievers, but got suspended in spring training the next year and went back to a 4 ERA after being sub-2 the previous year, alongside a big drop in velocity. I mean he was in his late 20s and I had just given him a decent contract following his breakout season, so the regression after a PED suspension didn't feel like a coincidence.

That's odd that I can't see the option. It's a fictional league that was created using the custom league setup wizard. That's why I figured it should be there. It's not a QS, historical or standard league.

I just tried to create another custom league, and again that option is not there. It just looks the same as in my original post.

Here is an example. Trying to create a quick default fictional league.

Maybe it doesn't appear during league creation, but does post-creation?

I didn't get any news item for it as he was in Low A. It just says "Suspended 40 games" when I scroll over his name. Oh I can check the transactions list on his profile, I'll see when I get home tonight.

I know it's there for fictional leagues, because I always make sure it's turned off in my leagues. Once your league is created, go to the "players(I can't remember, maybe facegen" menu. The menu that allows you to select the injury settings, whether you have facegen, photos, baseball cards etc and the option for drug suspensions will be right under the option for regular suspension.

I'm guessing he was suspended in real life prior to the 2015 season? I'm pretty sure the MLB quick start team included all existing PED suspensions.

I have never, not even once, ever seen a drug suspension in any of my leagues, across the last four or five versions since I discovered OOTP. I only play fictional.

I've never seen those options in the image linked by Bluenoser, either. I went through every page of my league settings and it's just not there. Habsfan's screen captures match my experience. I don't even see many suspensions exceeding nine or ten games, because the only thing guys get suspended for is fighting. Really wish at least some of my dudes were on drugs.

I just created another test league, and the option for drug suspensions finally showed up, but only after league creation. It wasn't available in the league setup wizard.

I think the problem with my one fictional file is that I have a game with 2 Major League's (one being fictional MLB, and one being a fictional World Baseball Association) and since the suspension settings are listed in the global game settings, it's not available for my fictional league because MLB is technically a part of the game world. I wish I can change that setting for one particular league, but I can see why it's part of the global league settings.

Thanks guys.

Ahh that's actually very possible but I'll check again tonight to make sure. Good thinking.

it's definitely not there during league creation. But it will show up post creation. Do you have any teams named after a real team?

I do use some real team names and logos and whatnot for my minors. Did not realize that alone would disable drug suspensions. Combined with the shoddy pinch-hitting AI forcing me to turn my DH's on, I guess it's time to start a whole new game. Good thing setting up a league is often my favorite part, I guess.
