Potential issue with Manager appointment

In my current MLB save Mike Matheny left/was fired as Cardinals manager at the end of the 2019 season and has an outstanding reputation.

I considered hiring him but decided to stay with my current manager. I had a look in January to see where he ended up and he's now manager of the Chicago White Sox single A team.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it seems strange for a manager with an outstanding reputation to take a single A job. If he'd been unemployed for a year, then it might be somewhat understandable but doing this after just a month or two of unemployment is a strange move.
