Help! Half my league disappeared.

I don't know what happened but during the off season my league has gone from 8 teams to 4 and the players that were on the other teams have vanished. They're not free agents, they're not in the draft. The top three teams of last season are all still around so maybe the other teams just folded, but shouldn't there be some news message if teams go bankrupt? And wouldn't the players be around somewhere?

Unfortunately, it seems to have happened before I backed up the game. I didn't notice that the other teams were gone until the amateur draft came up and I couldn't figure out why there were only four teams in the draft rotation.

Teams dont fold in OOTP. I would file a support ticket.

Oh, dear. I think you might be on to something with league evolution. I checked and I did have automatically expand league on. It didn't occur to me that automatic contraction might also happen, but it might be that changing my league structure after the first year is causing some sort of conflict with the historical expansion. Although two of the vanished teams (Brooklyn Atlantics & Boston Red Stockings) were still around in 1873.

Sigh. I was getting rather fond of my team even if my team's owner was annoyed with me. I mean, really, he sets the expectation that I play around .500 ball. I tie for first place and lose a 7-game series to decide the championship and he's angry at my performance because I didn't get a good enough first baseman?

League evolution and historical evolution work differently. Historical evolution removes teams when they folded in real life, but standard league evolution never does that.
