I set up a new league of fictional players.

I made a trade with a computer team that went thru. But I cant find anywhere the players.

when I click on the transaction it says he is on my team. But not on major or minor teams.

Do I need to do another step?

Go to the transaction tab, select Designated for Assignment. The player should be there, you can move him to the roster you want from there.
