Franchise help

I realigned the leagues in the offseason and I went through spring training just fine but when I go to opening day there's no games. I download a schedule generator mod and generate a schedule but it says I can only import schedules in the offseason. So do I

a) just sim a whole season without games
b) delete the save and start over

Is there anyway I can still have the rosters in this save and port it over to a new save? Is there a way for me to add in a schedule or am I doomed?

start over. Whenever you change the alignment or add teams always generate a new schedule at that time or import a new schedule during preseason.
